SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2310/2310-431 new

Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Public Health to ensure that coroners are included as part of medical examiner offices for the purposes of complying with and implementing specified federal provisions.

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section 2310-431 as follows:

(20 ILCS 2310/2310-431 new)

Sec. 2310-431. Coroners; medical examiner offices. The Department shall ensure that coroners are included as part of medical examiner offices for the purposes of complying with and implementing Sections 212(e) and 214(l) of the federal Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1182(e) and 8 U.S.C. 1184(l)) and 22 CFR 62 regarding the federal Exchange Visitor Program.
