SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

720 ILCS 570/401.3 new

Amends the Illinois Controlled Substances Act. Provides that, notwithstanding any other provision of law, a prescription for a substance in Schedule II, III, IV, or V must be sent electronically, in accordance with provisions regarding the Prescription Monitoring Program. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning criminal law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Controlled Substances Act is amended by adding Section 401.3 as follows:

(720 ILCS 570/401.3 new)

Sec. 401.3. Opioid prescriptions. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a prescription for a substance classified in Schedule II, III, IV, or V must be sent electronically, in accordance with Section 316 of this Act.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
