AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4434

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4434 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5changing Section 3-658 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/3-658)
7    Sec. 3-658. Professional Sports Teams license plates.
8    (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in
9the form prescribed by the Secretary, may issue special
10registration plates designated as Professional Sports Teams
11license plates. The special plates issued under this Section
12shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first
13division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second
14division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued
15under this Section shall expire according to the multi-year
16procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code.

1    (b) The design and color of the plates is wholly within the
2discretion of the Secretary, except that the plates shall,
3subject to the permission of the applicable team owner,
4display the logo of the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Bulls, the
5Chicago Blackhawks, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago White Sox,
6the Chicago Sky, the Chicago Red Stars, the Chicago Fire, the
7St. Louis Rams, or the St. Louis Cardinals, at the applicant's
8option. The Secretary may allow the plates to be issued as
9vanity or personalized plates under Section 3-405.1 of the
10Code. The Secretary shall prescribe stickers or decals as
11provided under Section 3-412 of this Code.
12    (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a
13$40 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate
14registration fee. Of this fee, $25 shall be deposited into the
15Professional Sports Teams Education Fund and $15 shall be
16deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate
17Fund, to be used by the Secretary to help defray the
18administrative processing costs.
19    For each registration renewal period, a $27 fee, in
20addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be
21charged. Of this fee, $25 shall be deposited into the
22Professional Sports Teams Education Fund and $2 shall be
23deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate
24Fund.
25    (d) The Professional Sports Teams Education Fund is
26created as a special fund in the State treasury. The

1Comptroller shall order transferred and the Treasurer shall
2transfer all moneys in the Professional Sports Teams Education
3Fund to the Common School Fund every 6 months.
