SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
305 ILCS 5/5-30b

    Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. In a provision exempting ground ambulance services from the managed care medical assistance program, requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to arrange the scheduling of ground ambulance services whenever managed care enrollees require transportation assistance. Provides that such services shall be paid (rather than continue to be paid) under the State's traditional fee-for-service program. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5changing Section 5-30b as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/5-30b)
7    Sec. 5-30b. Exemptions from managed care; ground ambulance
8services. Notwithstanding any other provision of law,
9beginning on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the
10102nd General Assembly, the Department shall exempt ground
11ambulance services as described in subsections (c-1) and (c-2)
12of Section 5-4.2. The Department shall arrange the scheduling
13of ground ambulance services as described in subsections (c-1)
14and (c-2) of Section 5-4.2 whenever managed care enrollees
15require transportation assistance. These services shall
16continue to be paid under the State's traditional
17fee-for-service program.

19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
