| 2 | | WHEREAS, Jacob "Jake" Rendleman has dedicated more than | 3 | | four decades of public service to the people and concerns of | 4 | | southern Illinois in his varied roles as teacher, business | 5 | | owner, community leader, college board member, and family | 6 | | farmer; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman's most defining accomplishments | 8 | | have grown from his passion for and commitment to public | 9 | | education in Illinois; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Southern Illinois | 11 | | University-Carbondale, Jacob Rendleman earned both a | 12 | | bachelor's degree in Agriculture and a master's degree in | 13 | | Health Education, which contributed to his lifelong passion | 14 | | for agricultural education; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman is a charter member of Beta Alpha | 16 | | of Alpha Gamma Rho, the professional-social, agriculture | 17 | | fraternity; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman, a lifelong resident of southern | 19 | | Illinois, was first elected to the John A. Logan College Board | 20 | | of Trustees in 1996 and served as board chair from 2001 to 2003 | 21 | | and 2013 to 2015; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, In addition to the JALC Board of Trustees, Jacob | 2 | | Rendleman has been active with the John A. Logan College | 3 | | Foundation, serving as president from 1991 to 1994; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, At the state level, Jacob Rendleman was elected | 5 | | by his peers to serve as President of the Illinois Community | 6 | | College Trustees Association from 2003 to 2004; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman was appointed to serve as the | 8 | | first trustee representative to the Illinois Community College | 9 | | Board in 2006; he subsequently earned bipartisan | 10 | | re-appointment by three different Illinois Governors until | 11 | | 2018; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, In the summer of 2020, the John A. Logan College | 13 | | Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name the agriculture | 14 | | facility on its Carterville campus as the Jacob "Jake" | 15 | | Rendleman Laboratory in honor of his initiative and advocacy | 16 | | to create a college agriculture program; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman has been recognized by numerous | 18 | | other organizations for his support of public education; | 19 | | notably, he has received the ICCTA Meritorious Service Award, | 20 | | the ICCTA Ray Hartstein Trustee Achievement Award, and the SIU | 21 | | College of Agriculture Science Alumni Achievement Award; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman, his wife of 58 years, Carolyn, | 2 | | and his two daughters, Amy Schwendemann and Susan Dennison, | 3 | | have all served as public school teachers and educators; | 4 | | therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 6 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 7 | | we commend Jacob "Jake" Rendleman for his many years of | 8 | | selfless public service to the people and public education | 9 | | systems of Illinois; and be it further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to Jacob Rendleman as a symbol of our respect and | 12 | | esteem.
