| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert | 4 | | "Bob" S. Molaro, who passed away on June 15, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Molaro was born to Angelina (Spizzirri) | 6 | | Molaro and Samuel Molaro in Chicago on June 29, 1950; he | 7 | | graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep in 1968, Loyola | 8 | | University in 1972, and John Marshall Law School in 1976; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Bob Molaro began his career with the City of | 10 | | Chicago Corporation Counsel; he then started his own law | 11 | | practice, which he continued until his passing; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Bob Molaro became the 12th Ward Democratic | 13 | | Committeeman in 1984; he served in the Illinois State Senate | 14 | | from 1993 to 2003; during his time as a state senator, he was | 15 | | the democratic spokesman on the Senate Executive, Higher | 16 | | Education, and Licensed Activities Committees and served on | 17 | | the Senate Insurance, Pensions, Judiciary, and Transportation | 18 | | Committees; he served in the Illinois House of Representatives | 19 | | from 2003 to 2008; during this time, he served as chairman of | 20 | | the Criminal Law Judiciary Committee and served on the Gaming, | 21 | | Public Safety Appropriations, Mass Transit, and Executive | 22 | | Leadership Committees; he was the lead sponsor of the bill |

| 1 | | that strengthened penalties for corporate official misconduct, | 2 | | for various gun control measures designed to protect | 3 | | neighborhood residents, and for several criminal justice | 4 | | reforms measures; throughout his political career, he | 5 | | championed animal protection issues and was a leading advocate | 6 | | for Illinois horse racing and gaming expansion; he retired | 7 | | from politics in 2008 and became a lobbyist; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bob Molaro had a remarkable passion for life and | 9 | | was a caring and compassionate friend; most of all, he enjoyed | 10 | | spending time with his family, especially his 11 | 11 | | grandchildren; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Bob Molaro was preceded in death by his parents | 13 | | and his brother, Peter (Michelle); and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Bob Molaro was survived | 15 | | by his wife, Barbara (nee Teska); his children, Samuel, Robyn | 16 | | (Timothy King), Miranda (Daniel Diaz), Michael (Jane | 17 | | Middleton), and Alexandra (Daniel Stell); his grandchildren, | 18 | | Rocco, Luciana, Francesca, Enzo, Daniel, Angelina, Evelyn, | 19 | | Felix, Jethro, Contessa, and Isabella; his sister-in-law, | 20 | | Nancy (Charles) Lunon; and his nephew, Nicholas (Rachel) | 21 | | Lunon; therefore, be it

| 1 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 2 | | we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" S. Molaro and extend our | 3 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | 4 | | and loved him; and be it further
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of his resolution be | 6 | | presented to the family of Bob Molaro as an expression of our | 7 | | deepest sympathy.
