HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Mayor Rick Chapman has served with dedication and 
3commitment to the Shorewood Village Board, demonstrating 
4public service and love of community; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, With 45 years of calling Shorewood home, Mayor 
6Chapman earned his Associate in Fire Science and Personnel 
7Management from Joliet Junior College; he put his knowledge to 
8work at Mobil Oil and as a lieutenant for the Troy Fire 
9Department; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Mayor Chapman continued his public service by 
11courageously serving as a naval helicopter crewman on the 
12U.S.S. Princeton in the U.S. Navy; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Mayor Chapman began his service as a trustee in 
14Shorewood in 1993; he chaired the Planning & Zoning Commission 
15and served on the Citizen Advisory, Finance, and Cable TV 
16committees; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Mayor Chapman was elected in 2001, and he oversaw 
18the construction of the new Shorewood Village Hall; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, As a veteran himself, Mayor Chapman has 
20demonstrated an active relationship with veterans of Shorewood

1Glen; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, With nearly 20 years of service as the mayor of 
3Shorewood and nearly 28 years of service on the Shorewood 
4Village Board, Mayor Chapman has lived a life committed to 
5public service and to improving the lives of those around him; 
6therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
8HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we commend Shorewood Mayor Rick Chapman on his decades of 
10public service and wish him the best in his future endeavors; 
11and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to Mayor Chapman and his family as an expression of 
14our appreciation for his years of hard work in his community.
