| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Phyllis | 4 | | Ann Jameson of Milford, who passed away on April 23, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Jameson was born in Bryce to Annette and | 6 | | Elmer Breymeyer on September 25, 1931; she graduated from | 7 | | Milford Township High School in 1949; she married Dale W. | 8 | | Jameson in Chicago in January 1952, and he preceded her in | 9 | | death on November 16, 1977; she later married Raymond Gibson | 10 | | in July 1984; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Jameson was appointed as the first female | 12 | | coroner of Iroquois County on an interim basis after the | 13 | | sudden passing of her husband and then-Iroquois County | 14 | | Coroner, Dale W. Jameson; she became one of the first female | 15 | | officials elected to a countywide position when she was | 16 | | elected as coroner in November 1978; she won her next four | 17 | | elections for Iroquois County Coroner and served for 20 years; | 18 | | after the resignation of the sheriff, she briefly served in | 19 | | the additional role of sheriff in 1980, making her the first | 20 | | female sheriff of Iroquois County; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Jameson was elected as president of the | 22 | | Illinois Coroner's Association in December 1985, where she |

| 1 | | spearheaded the effort to make continuing education training | 2 | | compulsory for all coroners in Illinois; she was appointed to | 3 | | the Advisory Board on Necropsy Services by the Illinois Senate | 4 | | in July 1988, serving until she retired as coroner; after her | 5 | | retirement, she was elected to the Iroquois County Board, | 6 | | where she served for 10 years; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Jameson was a lifelong member of St. | 8 | | John's Lutheran Church in Schwer; she served on numerous civic | 9 | | boards and organizations; she loved spending time with her | 10 | | family, especially her children and grandchildren; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Jameson enjoyed her career as a public | 12 | | servant, while serving in one of the most challenging public | 13 | | roles; she was highly respected and known for her expertise | 14 | | and for being compassionate, refreshingly honest, | 15 | | conscientious, helpful, and forever thorough; she leaves a | 16 | | legacy as a pioneer for women in her field and as a dedicated | 17 | | public servant who understood the importance of her role in | 18 | | making families feel heard during difficult times; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Jameson was preceded in death by her | 20 | | parents; her sister, Nancy Sloan; her brother, Byron | 21 | | Breymeyer; and her stepsons, Dr. David Jameson and Larry | 22 | | Jameson; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Phyllis Jameson is survived by her husband of | 2 | | over 36 years, Raymond Gibson; her children, Doug (Gloria) | 3 | | Jameson, Susan (John) Odenthal, Dan (Kathleen) Jameson, and | 4 | | Sally (John) Allhands; her twelve grandchildren, Annie (Steve) | 5 | | Cunningham, Brad (Sarah) Jameson, Christopher (Melody) | 6 | | Jameson, Dr. Jill (Mike) Scracic, Amy (Alex) Pokorny, John | 7 | | Odenthal, Megan (John) Delurey, Jenna (John) Holzhauser, Danny | 8 | | Jameson, Tyler Allhands, Jessica Allhands, and Emily Allhands; | 9 | | her 15 great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 12 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 13 | | we mourn the passing of Phyllis Ann Jameson and extend our | 14 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | 15 | | and loved her; and be it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Phyllis Jameson as an expression of | 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
