HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Felix Pasteris on the
4occasion of his 100th birthday; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Felix Pasteris was born Felice Leach Pasteris to
6Andrew and Oselina Pasteris, immigrants from Villa Regia in
7Northern Italy, on June 11, 1921; he later changed his first
8name to Felix; he graduated from Joliet High School; he served
9in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II; he attended the
10University of Illinois; he married Helen Hanis, and they were
11together for 70 happy years; he is a lifelong resident of
12Joliet; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Felix Pasteris has achieved a number of things
14during his long life, but one of his greatest accomplishments
15was serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II; he
16was the crew chief of the famous P38 plane "Shoot, You're
17Faded", and he traveled to Europe, Africa, and the
18Philippines; for his service, he was awarded a Bronze Star
19Medal, three Presidential Medals, a Distinguished Badge, Good
20Conduct, and two Silver Star Bars; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Felix Pasteris survived COVID-19 earlier this
22year, thanks in part to receiving his first dose of the vaccine

1prior to contracting the virus and the loving care of his
2daughter, Pam, and her family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Felix Pasteris is the father of Dave, the late
4Tom, the late Terry, Pam, and Lee; he instilled in his children
5the idea that you should never be embarrassed to ask
6questions; he finds his greatest joy from his family, his
7children, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Felix Pasteris is a gifted storyteller, a
9passionate gardener, a world traveler, a Democrat, and a
10Catholic; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we congratulate Felix Pasteris on his 100th birthday, and we
14wish him many more happy and healthy year; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Felix Pasteris as an expression of our esteem and
17respect.
