| 2 | | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is strengthened by its many | 3 | | residents who all bring different perspectives and life | 4 | | experiences; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, On November 12, 2021, Richard "Dick" Albert | 6 | | Ladner, a resident of Palatine, celebrated his 100th birthday; | 7 | | and | 8 | | WHEREAS, Richard Ladner was born in Chicago in 1921 and | 9 | | has spent the majority of his life living in the Chicago area, | 10 | | including his college years in which he attended and graduated | 11 | | from Loyola University; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Richard Ladner served his country during World | 13 | | War II as an auto mechanic stationed in Europe; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Richard Ladner married his sweetheart, Mary Helen | 15 | | "Babe" Michiels, in 1945, and they celebrated 73 wonderful | 16 | | years together; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Richard Ladner and his wife graced the world with | 18 | | eight children, Phillip, Mark, Madeleine, Barbara, Carl, | 19 | | Marie, Paul, and Karen; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Richard Ladner's eight children have graced the | 2 | | world with 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;; | 3 | | and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The Village of Palatine and the State of Illinois | 5 | | are better and stronger because of residents like Richard | 6 | | Ladner and the contributions they have made to others over | 7 | | many years of service and sacrifice; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 9 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 10 | | we congratulate Richard "Dick" Albert Ladner on his 100th | 11 | | birthday and thank him for his service and his contributions | 12 | | to his family, his community, and his country; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to Richard Ladner as a symbol of our respect and | 16 | | esteem.
