HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on many Illinois small and local businesses, including forcing hundreds of thousands of them to shut down; and

WHEREAS, The small and local businesses that have managed to survived have faced incredible hardships; and

WHEREAS, All business owners are acutely feeling the impact on their mental well being and their ability to maintain work-life balance as a result of navigating pandemic-related disruptions and fluctuating mandates across the country for the past year; and

WHEREAS, As noted, small and local businesses have been hard hit by the pandemic, but their health has been on the mend; smaller establishments have rehired most of the workers, which they had to let go earlier in the pandemic, and many indicators of their financial well being have improved; the economy has reopened, and changing consumer demand is creating new challenges and new opportunities; and

WHEREAS, The small and local business owners in Illinois are inventive and resilient and deserve to be honored for such; and

WHEREAS, The Best of Bolingbrook Awards and Gala 2022 is hosted by the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Alexander-Basta and has selected local business to honor this year because of their importance to the economy and community; and

WHEREAS, The fitting theme for Best of Bolingbrook Awards and Gala 2022 is The 1950s: Era of Recovery, Business & Innovation; and

WHEREAS, The 2022 Best of Bolingbrook Award winners are Marquette Bank, Giamanco Law Partners, Ltd., Ted's Montana Grill, ATI Physical Therapy, Bolingbrook STEM Association, IKEA Bolingbrook, West Liberty Foods, and Alpha Media 95.9 The River; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the 2022 Best of Bolingbrook Award winners for their resiliency during the COVID-19 pandemic; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Marquette Bank, Giamanco Law Partners, Ltd., Ted's Montana Grill, ATI Physical Therapy, Bolingbrook STEM Association, IKEA Bolingbrook, West Liberty Foods, and Alpha Media 95.9 The River as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
