HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the 2021-2022 7th-and-8th
4grade girls and boys basketball teams of Alexander Graham Bell
5Elementary School, who each won their division of CPS Score,
6the Chicago Public School district-wide championship; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Coaches Mark Klein of the girls Bell Blaze team
8and Brett Maher of the boys Bell Blaze team remain committed to
9youth athletics and have instilled the values of hard work and
10sportsmanship in their players; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Coaches Juan Gonzalez, Tom Pearl, Sean Lee, and
12Brian Hamilton of the girl's team and Coaches Greg Finger and
13Jon Rosenband of the boy's team brought the love of basketball
14to every practice, game, and tournament; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The members of the girls team are Zohra Atmani,
16Brianna Cruz, Gabriela Gonzalez, Sofia Gonzalez, Lyla
17Hamilton, Drew Janovsky, Grace Lee, Mila Maksimovic, Ava
18Martin, Tilly Paulson, Karley Pearl, Maddy Rich, Lilah
19Rosenfeld, Alex Sacchi, Claire Sharkey, Charlotte Smyth,
20Isabella Snopek, and Demi Spalla; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The members of the boys team are Ahmad

2Attanasio, Bode Bryant, Anthony Chambers, Henry Cheeseman,

4William Kapp, Liam Kho, Adam Kroot, Nicholas Linares, Callan
5Maher, Kiran Mishra, Nour Mohammad, Kevin Murphy, Luke
6Possinger, Cash Reese, Arnold Rosenband, Clayton Stiglicz,
7Solar Strom-Corso, John Timm, Nicolas Wright, and Peter
8Zuvich; and
 
9    WHEREAS, CPS Score, the district-wide championship,
10provides an opportunity for young athletes across Chicago to
11meet, engage, and learn from one another; and
 
12    WHEREAS, This marks the fourth CPS title in the past ten
13years for the girls team and the first CPS title for the boys
14team in Bell's history; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The girls team played exemplary defense,
16understanding that cooperation in these situations would allow
17for fast-breaks and opportunities to take chances; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The boys team focused heavily on zone defense,
19trapping and rebounding, and established strong trust among
20players; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we congratulate Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School on the
3district-wide championships of their 7th-and-8th grade boys
4and girls basketball teams; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to Alexander Graham Bell Elementary School to
7highlight the impactful role of sportsmanship and athleticism
8on young people.
