AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2520

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2520 on page 1, replacing lines 9 and 10 with the following:

"a county board that the circuit court has appointed the Attorney General to represent the county board"; and

by replacing line 20, on page 1, through line 4, on page 2, with the following:

"If a majority of the county board, by resolution, determines that there is a conflict of interest between the State's Attorney and the county board, the county board may petition the circuit court to either appoint the Attorney General or authorize the county board to hire outside legal counsel. The appointment or authorization shall be limited to representing the county board in civil matters involving the county board, and shall be for the duration of the conflict of interest. It shall be the responsibility of the county board to notify the Attorney General of such appointment.".
