| 1 | | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
| 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to truly great individuals; | 4 | | and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary was born to Edwin and Marilyn | 6 | | Neary of Morris on July 11, 1950; he attended Morris schools | 7 | | and Joliet Junior College; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary began his career in law | 9 | | enforcement with the Grundy County Sheriff's
Department; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary was hired as a police officer in | 11 | | Coal City on October 23, 1972 and went on to
serve as Chief of | 12 | | Police in Coal City for 30 years; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary also served 35 years with the | 14 | | Coal City Volunteer Fire Department, many
of those years as | 15 | | Captain; he was also an EMT for six years; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary received the Coal City Community | 17 | | Service Award in 2002; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary passed away on October 2, 2016, | 19 | | leaving behind his wife of 43 years, Cathy, two
sons, and three |

| 1 | | grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF | 4 | | REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Route 113 | 5 | | from Carbon Hill Road to Virginia Street in Coal City as the | 6 | | "Dennis M. Neary Memorial Highway"; and be it further | 7 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
| 8 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| 9 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
| 10 | | giving notice of the name
the "Dennis M. Neary Memorial | 11 | | Highway"; and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Dennis M. Neary, Coal City Village | 14 | | President Terry Halliday, and the Secretary of the Department | 15 | | of Transportation.
