| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Gordon Ross Ainsworth of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on February 1, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth was born to George Rodney and | 6 | | Dorothy (Ross) Ainsworth in Moline on December 13, 1926; he | 7 | | graduated from Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio in | 8 | | 1944; he attended Amherst College and was then drafted into | 9 | | the U.S. Army; he served as a Staff Sergeant in Atlanta, | 10 | | Georgia at Fort McPherson; he returned to Amherst College and | 11 | | graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics; he | 12 | | married Kaye Crissey at the First Congregational Church in | 13 | | Moline on December 6, 1969; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth was the fourth generation of | 15 | | Ainsworths to work in the family business, Dimock, Gould & Co; | 16 | | he started working in the lumber yard and eventually retired | 17 | | as president but still served alongside his two daughters on | 18 | | the board until the business closed in 2014; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth was a lifelong member of the | 20 | | First Congregational Church in Moline and the Moline Rotary | 21 | | Club; he was also a member of Short Hills Country Club and | 22 | | White Lake Golf Club and served on the board of directors for |

| 1 | | Arrowhead Ranch and the Moline Public Hospital; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Growing up, Gordon Ainsworth collected stamps and | 3 | | later developed an interest in Frances Ware and Frosted | 4 | | Hobnail Glass; he spent as much time as possible at the family | 5 | | home overlooking Lake Michigan, where he enjoyed sailing and | 6 | | fishing; he loved golfing, walking the beach looking for lucky | 7 | | glass, and spending time with family and friends; he was | 8 | | always a gentleman and will be remembered for his positive | 9 | | outlook on life, his patience, and his wonderful sense of | 10 | | humor; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth was preceded in death by his | 12 | | parents; his sisters, Ann and Cynthia Ainsworth; and his | 13 | | infant brother, Ross Ainsworth; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Ainsworth is survived by his loving wife, | 15 | | Katie; his daughters, Jennifer (David) Van Hook and Sarah | 16 | | (Jerry) Fulscher; and his grandchildren, Lauren and Conner | 17 | | Fulscher; therefore, be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 20 | | Gordon Ross Ainsworth extend our sincere condolences to his | 21 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 22 | | further
