| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Gloria Jean (Schaefer) Medow, a native | 4 | | of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, who passed away on July 11, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Medow graduated from Logan High School in | 6 | | LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 1950; she then went to Chicago to | 7 | | attend nursing school; she married Robert "Bob" J. Medow in | 8 | | Chicago in 1956; they lived in Tustin, Wisconsin, Las Vegas, | 9 | | and Henderson, Nevada; they then spent two years on the road in | 10 | | their RV before settling first in Kissimmee, Florida and then | 11 | | in Clermont, Florida; she then moved back north to Plainfield, | 12 | | Illinois and finally to Kenosha, Wisconsin; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Medow was very proud to work as a nurse; | 14 | | she was committed to environmental causes and an avid | 15 | | recycler; she supported groups from Greenpeace to the Sierra | 16 | | Club; she worked for social justice and ran a local community | 17 | | center in Florida; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Medow was a devoted lifelong Lutheran; she | 19 | | loved to spend time with friends and family; she enjoyed | 20 | | reading novels, watching movies, playing golf later in life, | 21 | | playing cards, and having fun; she also enjoyed telling jokes | 22 | | and stories and readily made friends with those who crossed |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Medow was preceded in death by her | 3 | | husband; her parents, Nicholas Schaefer and Alice (Iverson) | 4 | | Comeau; and her beloved sister, Betty (Howard) Warren; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gloria Medow is survived by her children, David | 6 | | (Jane) Medow, Marilyn Medow, and Sandra (Kevin) Mikolas, and | 7 | | her grandchildren, Nikolai and Hannah Medow, Alyse (Louis) | 8 | | Wenger, and Nathan (Alanna) Mikolas; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Gloria Jean (Schaefer) Medow and extend our sincere | 12 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 13 | | her; and be it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Gloria Medow as an expression of our | 16 | | deepest sympathy.
