| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Daniel "Dan" Leroy Battles of St. | 4 | | Simons Island, Georgia, who passed away on August 21, 2021; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Battles was born in Popular Bluff, | 7 | | Missouri on January 8, 1950; he graduated from Cahokia High | 8 | | School and studied at Southwest Missouri State College; he | 9 | | joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as an air traffic | 10 | | controller for almost three years and also trained scuba | 11 | | instructors in Corpus Christi, Texas; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Battles served as Commander of the | 13 | | American Legion Post 166 on St. Simons Island; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Battles was a lighting and sound | 15 | | technician at Wesley UMC Church and for weddings; he loved his | 16 | | church family, and as a labor of love, he worked part time for | 17 | | Seafarers; he truly enjoyed his many friends; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Battles was preceded in death by his | 19 | | stepson, Scott Reynolds; his father, Connie Battles; his | 20 | | stepfather, Guy Julian; and his grandson, Gray Battles; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Battles is survived by his wife, Brenda | 2 | | Reynolds Battles; his mother, Clara Julian; his sister, | 3 | | Jeannie (Wayne) Evans; his daughter, Annie Bundy; his sons, | 4 | | Keith (Amy) Battles, Scott (Shira) Battles, and Matthew | 5 | | Battles; his stepdaughter, Valerie (Shawn) Sandow; his | 6 | | stepdaughter-in-law, Angie Reynolds; his 12 grandchildren; and | 7 | | his two great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Daniel "Dan" Leroy Battles and extend our sincere condolences | 11 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 12 | | it further
