| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Edward "Big Ed" Jawoisz of Rock | 4 | | Island, who passed away on October 10, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz was born in Moline to John and | 6 | | Jadwiga Zelnio Jawoisz on March 22, 1928; he graduated from | 7 | | Moline High School, where he was a star basketball player; he | 8 | | served in the U.S. Marine Corps and married Elaine M. Scheel in | 9 | | Rock Island on August 12, 1950; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz was a supervisor at the Moline | 11 | | Post Office and retired in 1983 after 33 years of service; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz was a member of St. Mary Catholic | 13 | | Church in Rock Island; he enjoyed visiting Jumer's Casino, | 14 | | where he was an Emerald Club member; he was an avid fan of | 15 | | Notre Dame sports; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz was preceded in death by his | 17 | | daughter, Julie Jawoisz; his son, John E. Jawoisz; his | 18 | | parents; his sister, Helena Jawoisz; and his sister-in-law, | 19 | | Carolyn Jawoisz; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Edward Jawoisz is survived by his wife of 71 |
