| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Clifford R. Bates of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on November 23, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Clifford Bates was born to George G. and Mary A. | 6 | | (Dorsey) Bates in Garden Grove, Iowa on September 28, 1931; he | 7 | | served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in | 8 | | Korea; he married Janice Hauger in Davenport, Iowa on June 4, | 9 | | 1960; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Clifford Bates was employed as a meter reader for | 11 | | Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Co., retiring in 1992; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Clifford Bates was a former member of the Moline | 13 | | Gospel Temple; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Clifford Bates enjoyed studying genealogy and | 15 | | astronomy; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Clifford Bates was preceded in death by his | 17 | | parents; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Clifford Bates is survived by his wife; his | 19 | | daughter, Alice Blankenfeld; his sons, George (Linda) Bates, |

| 1 | | Curtis Bates, and Scott Bates; six grandchildren; one | 2 | | great-grandchild; and his sister, Georgia Felder; therefore, | 3 | | be it
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 6 | | Clifford R. Bates and extend our sincere condolences to his | 7 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 8 | | further
| 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the family of Clifford Bates as an expression of | 11 | | our deepest sympathy.
