SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Patrick J. "Pat" Cavanagh of Port
4Byron, who passed away on January 4, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat Cavanagh was born to John and Mildred (Ambre)
6Cavanagh in Sterling on November 11, 1949; he graduated from
7Alleman High School; he enrolled at Western Illinois to play
8football and wrestle before being called to serve his country;
9he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War; he
10graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, where he
11finished second in the national wrestling tournament; he
12married Kathleen "Kate" McDonnell in Sterling on April 8,
131972; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Pat Cavanagh had a 20-year career with the East
15Moline Fire Department; he also worked as a block and brick
16mason; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Pat Cavanagh was a member of St. Ambrose Church
18in Erie; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Pat Cavanagh was a true sportsman and nature
20lover; he loved fly fishing in his wooden canoe using the flies
21he made; he was an avid hunter and enjoyed sports shooting,

1which he passed down to his children and grandchildren; he
2also loved his dogs and the many animals on his hobby farm; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Pat Cavanagh was preceded in death by his
4parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat Cavanagh is survived by his wife, Kate; his
6daughters, Bridget Cavanagh, Christine (Todd) Caves, Elizabeth
7(Michael) Marusin, and Maureen (Russell) Voypick; his
8grandchildren, Grace, Morgan, Bryan, Erin, Maggie, Poppy,
9Owen, and Emmett; his siblings, Lois (Bob) Schoen, Michael
10(Sharon) Cavanagh, and Mary (Ron) Millage; and his many
11nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends; therefore, be
12it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Patrick J. "Pat" Cavanagh and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Pat Cavanagh as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
