| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Jeffrey John "Jeff" Staken of Cordova, | 4 | | who passed away on February 28, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was born to Stanley and Constance | 6 | | (Navurskis) Staken in Chicago on November 22, 1946; he | 7 | | graduated from Austin High School in Chicago; he served in the | 8 | | U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Suzanne Georgean | 9 | | in Chicago on April 2, 1966; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Staken worked as a fuel handling foreman at | 11 | | the Exelon Nuclear Power Plant in Cordova; after retirement, | 12 | | he became a private contractor for various nuclear power | 13 | | plants across the country; he worked for PLAINS in his last few | 14 | | years; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was a former member of the VFW and the | 16 | | Cordova American Legion; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Staken enjoyed traveling, camping, and being | 18 | | outdoors with his wife; he especially enjoyed hiking with his | 19 | | grandchildren; he loved learning new languages, expanding his | 20 | | knowledge by reading, and making new friends everywhere he | 21 | | went; he loved his family above all; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Staken was preceded in death by his wife, | 2 | | Sue; his parents; his brothers, James Staken and Richard | 3 | | Staken; and his niece, Patty; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Staken is survived by his son, Nick | 5 | | (Barbara) Staken; his daughters, Laura (Scott) Shields and | 6 | | Andria Smith; his grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha (Mike), | 7 | | Andrew, Alex (Katee), Jason, Jeffrey, Nick, Suzanna, Isabella, | 8 | | and Aiden; and his three great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 11 | | Jeffrey John "Jeff" Staken and extend our sincere
condolences | 12 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be | 13 | | it further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
