| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Leonard C. "Norche" VanDeWalle of East | 4 | | Moline, who passed away on March 2, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Leonard VanDeWalle was born to Leonard and Stella | 6 | | (Theuninck) VanDeWalle in Moline on December 21, 1931; he | 7 | | graduated from United Township High School; he was attending | 8 | | the University of Iowa on a football scholarship when he | 9 | | joined the U.S. Navy in 1955; he married Shirley Baker in East | 10 | | Moline on November 24, 1956, and she preceded him in death on | 11 | | February 8, 1999; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Leonard VanDeWalle was a member of East Moline | 13 | | American Legion Post 227 for 50 years; he was a fan of the | 14 | | Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and the Iowa Hawkeyes; he | 15 | | worked out at the YMCA every day until his health no longer | 16 | | permitted it; he enjoyed fishing, boating, and walking; most | 17 | | of all, he enjoyed going for a ride; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Leonard VanDeWalle is survived by his daughter, | 19 | | Sherry (Alan) Spicer, her children, Toby (Shelley) Spicer, | 20 | | Hiedi Spicer, Dustin (Tanya) Spicer, and Angel (Zak) Knox, and | 21 | | their children, Chase, Callista, Libbi, Gracci, Broddy, | 22 | | Cannden, Emmi, and Jacci; and his stepson, Terry (Sandy) |

| 3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 4 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 5 | | Leonard C. "Norche" VanDeWalle and extend our sincere | 6 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 7 | | him; and be it further
| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 | | presented to the family of Leonard VanDeWalle as an expression | 10 | | of our deepest sympathy.
