SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Herbert L. "Herb" Walls of
4Jacksonville, who passed away on February 10, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Herbert Walls was born to Howard and Mildred
6(Varble) Walls in Beardstown on March 4, 1929; he graduated
7from Beardstown High School in 1947; he then moved to
8Jacksonville; he married Eldena Duncan at the Central
9Christian Church in Jacksonville on August 24, 1958, and she
10preceded him in death; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Herbert Walls worked for A&P, and he was a member
12of the Illinois National Guard when called into active service
13for the Korean War in 1952; he entered his duty assignment as
14sergeant in Company B, 27th Infantry Regiment, known as the
15"Wolfhounds"; upon his return, he worked at A&P for many more
16years before its closing; he retired from the State of
17Illinois Department of Revenue; and
 
18    WHEREAS, For his military service, Herbert Walls earned
19the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the
20United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and
21one Overseas Service Bar; he was authorized the Republic of
22Korea Presidential Unit Citation Badge in 1985; and

1    WHEREAS, Herbert Walls enjoyed spending time with his
2wife, and they had great fun challenging one another in table
3tennis, lawn jarts, croquet, horseshoes, and bowling; after
4their son was born, their enthusiasm was passed on, with many
5championship titles won and bitter defeat tasted from the
6subsequent competitions; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Herbert Walls will be remembered for being a
8wonderful man who was dedicated to his family; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Herbert Walls is survived by his son, Michael
10(Jamie) Walls; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Herbert L. "Herb" Walls and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Herbert Walls as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
