SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jason S. "Geo" Georgacakis of Mount
4Prospect, who passed away on March 10, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jason Georgacakis was born on July 30, 1981; he
6grew up in Northbrook and attended Glenbrook North High
7School; he studied marine biology in college; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jason Georgacakis began teaching at Schaumburg
9High School in 2005, where he taught biology, AP biology, and
10health careers and medical terminology; he served as the
11sponsor for the Health Occupations Students of America Club
12and coached soccer; he coached boys soccer from 2007 to 2017
13and had coached the junior varsity girls team since 2008; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jason Georgacakis, or "Mr. G" as his students
15called him, was incredibly popular with those he taught; he
16was even chosen to be the featured speaker at a Schaumburg High
17Senior Breakfast; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jason Georgacakis lived and taught with
19exuberance, authenticity, and a desire to connect with the
20people with whom he shared life; he was quick to laugh, quicker
21to smile, and the first to step in and offer whatever help he

1could when needed; he was a beloved husband and father, an
2influential teacher, an inspirational coach and sponsor, a
3trusted colleague, and as true a friend as anyone could find;
4his wit, humor, and humility will never be replaced or
5forgotten; and
 
6    WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Jason Georgacakis was
7survived by his wife, Rachael Rothrauff; his daughters, Mila
8and Lidia; his loving parents, Jody and John; his siblings,
9Justin (Ali), Jarrod (Kris), and Jenna (Matt); his nephews,
10Cheydon, Everett, Declan, Gavin, Blake, and Ian; his aunts,
11Tommi and Elaine; his uncles, Gary and Louie; his cousin,
12Brittney (Ben); his in-laws, Lorraine, Tom, Tina, and Ben; and
13his many colleagues, friends, and students; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Jason S. "Geo" Georgacakis and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Jason Georgacakis as an expression
21of our deepest sympathy.
