SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
775 ILCS 55/1-23 new

    Amends the Reproductive Health Act. Provides that before an abortion may be performed by a health care professional, the health care professional must provide the patient with the specified information developed by the Department of Public Health. Requires the patient to attest to receiving the information on a form prescribed by the Department.

1    AN ACT concerning human rights.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Reproductive Health Act is amended by
5adding Section 1-23 as follows:
 
6    (775 ILCS 55/1-23 new)
7    Sec. 1-23. Information required prior to performance of
8abortion. Before an abortion may be performed by a health care
9professional, the health care professional must provide the
10patient with the following information developed by the
11Department:
12        (1) Geographically available public and private
13    agencies, including adoption agencies, and services that
14    are available to provide information on family planning,
15    including natural family planning information, available
16    to provide ultrasound imaging services. This information
17    must include a comprehensive list of the agencies
18    available, a description of the services offered, and a
19    description of the manner in which to be contacted,
20    including telephone numbers and addresses.
21        (2) The availability of governmentally funded programs
22    that serve pregnant patients and children. Services
23    identified for the pregnant person must include medical

1    assistance for pregnant patients and children, the
2    availability of family or medical leave, child care
3    services, child support laws and programs, and the credit
4    for expenses for household and dependent care and services
5    necessary for gainful employment.
6    The patient must attest that the patient received the
7information from the health care professional on a form
8prescribed by the Department.
