HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Jacksonville Middle
4School (JMS) cheer team on winning the 2023 Illinois
5Elementary School Association (IESA) Large Cheer division for
6the second consecutive year; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The JMS cheer team finished with a score of 95.5,
8the highest score on record in IESA history; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The JMS cheer team also placed third in the
10Medium Routine division at this year's competition, making it
11one of the most decorated cheer squads in the State; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In January 2023, the JMS cheer team won the
13Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association state championships
14in both the Medium Routine division and the Game Day division,
15showcasing the talent and determination of the team members;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, The members of the JMS cheer team are eighth
18graders Julia Adams, Jaycee Bates, Mia Frye, Kolby Hoffman,
19Lydia Keefe, Elizabeth Saxer, Alivia Swift, and Sophia Withee,
20seventh graders Jaelie Harp and Josie Meggison, and sixth
21graders Edith Bryson-Adams, Chloe Colen, Ella Chumley, Madi

1Defrates, Madi Doerr, Elizabeth Guidish, Macee James, and
2Mattisyn Weikert; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The JMS cheer team is coached by Emily Hudson;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, The JMS cheer team has made its entire hometown
6of Jacksonville extremely proud and will never forget their
7hard work and determination to win; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate the Jacksonville Middle School cheer team on
11winning the 2023 Illinois Elementary School Association Large
12Cheer division, placing second in the Medium Routine division,
13and winning the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association
14state championships in both the Medium Routine division and
15the Game Day division; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That we wish the JMS cheer team many more
17triumphant seasons to come; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
19presented to the JMS cheer coach and all team members as a
20symbol of our esteem and respect.
