| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is an organization | 3 | | dedicated to training youth in character development, | 4 | | responsible citizenship, experiential learning, and | 5 | | values-based leadership through a variety of educational | 6 | | programs, outdoor activities, and service projects; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, Local BSA organizations have contributed to | 8 | | communities across Illinois through their service projects and | 9 | | their commitment to the ideals of scouting; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, BSA utilizes merit badges to enable scouts to | 11 | | learn about business, civic participation, crafts, science, | 12 | | sports, and trades in over 130 fields, including automotive | 13 | | maintenance, engineering, programming, camping, first aid, and | 14 | | fitness; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, BSA leaders, known as scoutmasters, as well as | 16 | | other volunteers, work to be positive role models and strong | 17 | | leaders in order to encourage the healthy development of young | 18 | | people; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, BSA operates five programs, offering a variety of | 20 | | activities for various ages, including Cub Scouts for youth in | 21 | | grade levels kindergarten to fifth grade, Scouts BSA for youth |

| 1 | | aged 11 to 17, Venturers for youth aged 14 to 20, Sea Scouts | 2 | | for youth aged 14 to 20, and Explorers for youth aged 10 to 20; | 3 | | therefore, be it | 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 5 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 6 | | we recognize the members and leaders of the Boy Scouts of | 7 | | America (BSA) in the State of Illinois; and be it further | 8 | | RESOLVED, That we encourage the citizens of Illinois to | 9 | | join in appreciation and celebration of the BSA for the | 10 | | organization's work on behalf of young people across the State | 11 | | and the country. |
