| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Reverend Jarvis J. | 4 | | Hanson, D.Min. on the occasion of his 17 years of pastoral | 5 | | service at the New Nazareth Baptist Church of Chicago; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion | 7 | | from Faith International University, a Bachelor of Arts in | 8 | | Ministry from Newburgh Bible College, a Master of Arts in | 9 | | Pastoral Studies from Lake Charles Theological Seminary, and | 10 | | both a Master of Arts in Theology and a Doctor of Ministry from | 11 | | St. Thomas Christian University; he completed his Clinical | 12 | | Pastoral Education (CPE) Level 1 Certification through the | 13 | | Sankofa Clinical Pastoral Education Center; he is a board | 14 | | certified Christian counselor doctoral diplomat through the | 15 | | International Association Of Christian Counseling | 16 | | Professionals, and he is currently a doctoral candidate in | 17 | | Christian counseling at the Trinity College of the Bible and | 18 | | Theological Seminary; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson committed to his faith at an early | 20 | | age, beginning his stewardship at United Faith Missionary | 21 | | Baptist Church in Rockford at the age of 10; he then became the | 22 | | interim pastor of the New Direction Fellowship Missionary | 23 | | Baptist Church of Rockford at the age of 16, serving from March |

| 1 | | 2000 to August 2000; he was ordained as a minister at United | 2 | | Faith Missionary Baptist Church in November 2006; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson currently serves as pastor of the | 4 | | historic New Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, | 5 | | celebrating his 17 years of service on April 28, 2024; he | 6 | | remains dedicated to leading his congregation with grace and | 7 | | dignity, and his work includes traveling throughout the State | 8 | | of Illinois and the U.S. to offer preaching, teaching, and | 9 | | lecturing; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson serves as director of the Young | 11 | | Pastors Division and chairman of the Moderator's Division for | 12 | | the Baptist General State Convention of Illinois, a moderator | 13 | | of the Greater New Era Baptist District Association of Chicago | 14 | | and Vicinity, an adjunct professor of Homiletics for Chicago | 15 | | Baptist Institute International, and as a certified dean | 16 | | through the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National | 17 | | Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.; he also belongs to the South | 18 | | Shore Ministerial Alliance of Chicago and Vicinity; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson has been nominated for induction into | 20 | | the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse | 21 | | College; and | 22 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Hanson is the husband of Brandy Hanson and |

| 1 | | the father of Alycen-Grace Michele Hanson; therefore, be it | 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 3 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 4 | | we congratulate Reverend Jarvis J. Hanson, D.Min. on his | 5 | | 17-year pastoral anniversary at the New Nazareth Missionary | 6 | | Baptist Church of Chicago, and we wish him continued success; | 7 | | and be it further | 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 | | presented to Rev. Hanson as a symbol of our esteem and respect. |
