| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Ruth (Miller) Rau of Panama, who | 4 | | passed away on May 16, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Rau was born to Hugh Clarence and Carmen | 6 | | Winifred (Bollman) Miller in Hillsboro on June 29, 1941; she | 7 | | graduated from Greenville High School in 1959; she married | 8 | | Otto Rau in Sorento on February 6, 1960; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In her younger years, Ruth Rau worked as a phone | 10 | | operator in Sorento and for Webco in Litchfield; she became a | 11 | | homemaker who devoted herself to her family; later in life, | 12 | | she worked for the Sears Catalog and CNB Bank in Hillsboro; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Rau loved spending time in the company of | 14 | | others; she was known for always being a joy to be around and | 15 | | often having a big smile on her face; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Rau was preceded in death by her parents; | 17 | | her son, Darrell Rau; her sister, Wanda Bilyeu; and her | 18 | | brothers, Darrell, Russell, and Donald Miller; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Ruth Rau is survived by her husband of 63 years, | 20 | | Otto; her son, Rex (Micki) Rau; her daughter-in-law, Cathy |
