| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of John William "Bill" Davidsmeyer of | 4 | | Springfield, who passed away on July 18, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Davidsmeyer was born to Paul John and Ruth | 6 | | E. Blohm Davidsmeyer in Rushville on December 22, 1927; he | 7 | | attended Jacksonville schools and later graduated from Kemper | 8 | | Military School in Boonville, Missouri; he served as a private | 9 | | first class in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan; | 10 | | following his discharge, he attended Valparaiso University and | 11 | | Purdue University, earning a degree in civil engineering; he | 12 | | married Correne D. Kraemer in Neenah, Wisconsin on July 1, | 13 | | 1950, and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2021; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Bill Davidsmeyer returned to Jacksonville and his | 15 | | family's business, Illinois Road Contractors (IRC), where he | 16 | | had worked since the age of 14; he oversaw daily operations of | 17 | | IRC and maintained a lifelong connection to the company; one | 18 | | of the highlights of his career was the expansion of his | 19 | | family's business holdings with the addition of the Meredosia | 20 | | Terminal in the 1970s, which allowed IRC to have access to oil | 21 | | while also supplying it to other entities; he remained on the | 22 | | company's board of directors until his passing; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bill Davidsmeyer was a longtime member of Ducks | 2 | | Unlimited and was very involved in the local chapter's annual | 3 | | dinners; he also held leadership roles with the Jacksonville | 4 | | Jaycees, the Passavant Hospital Board of Directors, the | 5 | | Jacksonville Country Club, and the Chamber of Commerce; he was | 6 | | a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he served as | 7 | | an elder and the head of the Salem Lutheran School Board; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bill Davidsmeyer was an avid outdoorsman, and he | 9 | | enjoyed duck hunting at the family's club near Snicarte; he | 10 | | also enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout the United States, | 11 | | Canada, and Mexico; he and his wife, Correne, liked spending | 12 | | winters in Florida, where he relished golfing, fishing, and | 13 | | spending time with family and friends; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Bill Davidsmeyer was preceded in death by his | 15 | | sons, Richard William Davidsmeyer and John Paul Davidsmeyer, | 16 | | and his adoptive mother, Norma Perbix Davidsmeyer; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Bill Davidsmeyer is survived by his daughters, | 18 | | Diann Davidsmeyer and Darcy (Ray Morin) Davidsmeyer; his | 19 | | grandsons, Ryan (Barbara) Davidsmeyer and Michael (Kelsey) | 20 | | Davidsmeyer; and his grandchildren, Colton, Emrick, Teddy, and | 21 | | Margaret; therefore, be it

| 1 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 2 | | John William "Bill" Davidsmeyer and extend our sincere | 3 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 4 | | him; and be it further
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 6 | | presented to the family of Bill Davidsmeyer as an expression | 7 | | of our deepest sympathy.
