| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of William Nelson "Bill" Elliott of | 4 | | Altoona, Iowa, formerly of Aledo, who passed away on September | 5 | | 12, 2023; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bill Elliott was born to Rufus and Ellen | 7 | | (Leonard) Elliott in Aledo on July 19, 1936; he graduated from | 8 | | Reynolds High School in 1954; he married Mary Jansen on June | 9 | | 20, 1959; he was drafted into the U.S. Army in September 1959, | 10 | | and he served in the 1st Cavalry Division, 8th Cavalry Battle | 11 | | Group in Korea; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Bill Elliott worked as a farmer who raised hogs | 13 | | and cattle and grew corn, beans, and later tomatoes; he | 14 | | retired from farming in 2008; he went on to work at Martin | 15 | | Grain and then at Big River until he and his wife moved from | 16 | | Reynolds to Pella, Iowa in July 2020 to be closer to their | 17 | | daughter and son-in-law; they then moved to Altoona, Iowa in | 18 | | April 2023; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Bill Elliott was a member of the Buffalo Prairie | 20 | | Presbyterian Church, the Kaaba Shriners, Buffalo Prairie | 21 | | Masonic Lodge #679, and American Legion Post 1166 in Reynolds; | 22 | | and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bill Elliott enjoyed farming, camping, hunting, | 2 | | traveling, snowmobiling, flying, going to sporting events, and | 3 | | playing jokes on people; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Bill Elliott is survived by his wife of 64 years; | 5 | | his daughter, Kris (Judd) Keuning; his sister, Carolyn (Larry) | 6 | | Manley; his sister-in-law, Agnes Howell; his brothers-in-law, | 7 | | Terry (Nedra) Lee and Bill (Maxine) Jansen; and many nieces, | 8 | | nephews, and "adopted" children; therefore, be it | 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | William Nelson "Bill" Elliott and extend our sincere | 12 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 13 | | him; and be it further | 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Bill Elliott as an expression of our | 16 | | deepest sympathy. |
