| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of William Frederick "Bill" Schwenneker, | 4 | | who passed away on October 8, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker was born in Hillsdale to | 6 | | Frederick and Hazel (Melody) Schwenneker on July 11, 1928; he | 7 | | graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1946, where he played | 8 | | football, basketball, and track; he then joined the United | 9 | | States Navy and honorably served his country until 1948; he | 10 | | married Darlene Marie Amery at Peace Lutheran Church in Port | 11 | | Byron on June 11, 1952; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker was involved with farming for | 13 | | over 70 years; he achieved success as a master agent for | 14 | | Country Companies Insurance and was one of the top sales | 15 | | agents in the State several times; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker relished a good competition well | 17 | | into his later years, especially on the golf course; his | 18 | | Sunday morning golf group and Monday night golf league with | 19 | | his best friends highlighted his week; he also had a lifelong | 20 | | love of horses and prided himself on his ability to train and | 21 | | work with horses; for many years, he enjoyed working with the | 22 | | Buccaneer 4-H Club and attending weekly horse shows, where he |

| 1 | | joked that he did all the work and his daughter got all the | 2 | | glory; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents; his wife of 54 years, Darlene; his infant daughter, | 5 | | Jeanna; and his brother, Donald; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bill Schwenneker is survived by his daughter, | 7 | | Victoria (Buell) Cole; his grandchildren, Courtney (Mark) | 8 | | Nelson and Scott (Rachel) Cole; his great-grandchildren, | 9 | | Olivia, Ryan, and Brooke Nelson and Gabriel and David William | 10 | | Cole; his special cousin, Cindy (Al) Knott; and many great | 11 | | friends; therefore, be it | 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | William Frederick "Bill" Schwenneker and extend our sincere | 15 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 16 | | him; and be it further | 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of Bill Schwenneker as an expression | 19 | | of our deepest sympathy. |
