| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of James Byron "Jim" Jurgens of Arthur, | 4 | | who passed away on March 18, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Jurgens was born in Urbana to Ervin L. and | 6 | | Dorothy B. Jurgens on December 31, 1941; he attended Arthur | 7 | | High School and Culver Academy and graduated from Northwestern | 8 | | University in 1964 and the University of Illinois College of | 9 | | Law in 1967; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Jurgens spent 32 years working at the First | 11 | | National Bank of Chicago in the law department; he then spent | 12 | | almost 20 years with the State Bank of Arthur; he found great | 13 | | satisfaction in doing his job the best way he could, providing | 14 | | solid advice and direction in charting the right path; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Jurgens's lifelong philosophy revolved around | 16 | | finding something you love and doing it well; he was | 17 | | completely dedicated to his work and his own beloved family; | 18 | | he especially enjoyed family holidays and trips visiting | 19 | | family throughout the country, and he loved the town and | 20 | | community of Arthur; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Jim Jurgens is survived by his wife of 57 years, |

| 1 | | Patricia; his son, David (Mary) Jurgens; his daughter, | 2 | | Jennifer (Thomas) Murphy; his daughter, Kathryn Lofy; his son, | 3 | | Michael (Melissa) Jurgens; his grandchildren, Jack Jurgens, | 4 | | Hailey Jurgens, Taylor Jurgens, Gavin Murphy, Parker Murphy, | 5 | | Connor Lofy, Kyle Lofy, Ella Jurgens, Henry Jurgens, and Hazel | 6 | | Jurgens; and his sister, Janet Winningham; therefore, be it | 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | James Byron "Jim" Jurgens and extend our sincere condolences | 10 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 11 | | it further | 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Jim Jurgens as an expression of our | 14 | | deepest sympathy. |
