SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Harley E. DeVilder of East Moline, who
4passed away on October 19, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder was born to Raymond DeVilder and
6Viola Lewis DeVilder in Moline on November 6, 1946; he served
7in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict; he married Diane
8VandeVoorde at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Geneseo on
9June 8, 1968; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder retired from the Rock Island
11Arsenal after many years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder served as a leader for Boy Scout
13Troop 300 when his sons were young; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder loved hunting, fishing, camping,
15and playing rolle bolle; he excelled in the martial arts and
16had a second-degree black belt; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder was preceded in death by his
18parents and his wife; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder is survived by his sons, Stephen

1(Dawn) DeVilder and Darrell (Jennifer) DeVilder; his
2grandchildren, Emily, Tyler, Austin, Nikki, Amanda, and Paige;
3his sister, Frances (Richard) McCormick; and three nieces and
4two nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Harley E. DeVilder and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Harley DeVilder as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
