SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harley E. DeVilder of East Moline, who passed away on October 19, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder was born to Raymond DeVilder and Viola Lewis DeVilder in Moline on November 6, 1946; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict; he married Diane VandeVoorde at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Geneseo on June 8, 1968; and

WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder retired from the Rock Island Arsenal after many years of service; and

WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder served as a leader for Boy Scout Troop 300 when his sons were young; and

WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder loved hunting, fishing, camping, and playing rolle bolle; he excelled in the martial arts and had a second-degree black belt; and

WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; and

WHEREAS, Harley DeVilder is survived by his sons, Stephen (Dawn) DeVilder and Darrell (Jennifer) DeVilder; his grandchildren, Emily, Tyler, Austin, Nikki, Amanda, and Paige; his sister, Frances (Richard) McCormick; and three nieces and two nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harley E. DeVilder and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harley DeVilder as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
