SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Henke, who passed away on October 18, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Dick Henke was born to Bill and Mary Ethel Henke in Moline on May 9, 1932; he graduated from Rock Island High School; he majored in finance and banking at the University of Denver, where he played football and became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon; he married Elaine Graham in 1953; he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington; and

WHEREAS, Dick Henke co-founded Pipe Valve and Fitting Co. with Bob Green in 1962; and

WHEREAS, Dick Henke was a member of the Denver Athletic Club, the Pinehurst Country Club, and Arvada Covenant Church; and

WHEREAS, Dick Henke was an avid golfer; he and his wife loved to travel, taking trips to Spain, England, France, Eleuthera, and Alaska; they also visited presidential libraries across the U.S.; and

WHEREAS, Dick Henke was known for his warm and welcoming nature, endearing him to all he encountered; and

WHEREAS, Dick Henke was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Elaine; his son, Mark Stephen Henke; and his brother, Donald Curtis Henke; and

WHEREAS, Dick Henke is survived by his grandchildren, Stephen Carlisle, Andrew Carlisle, Alex Carlisle, and Melissa Henke; his daughter, Dana Lyn Carlisle; and his son-in-law, Vance Carlisle; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" Henke and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Henke as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
