| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Lyle D. Courtney of Norris, who passed | 4 | | away on November 16, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney was born in Banner to Jesse and | 6 | | Lola (Woodcock) Courtney on April 12, 1924; he served in the | 7 | | United States Navy during World War II; he married Ruth Ellen | 8 | | Yarnell on November 18, 1951; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney farmed in Cuba for over 70 years; | 10 | | and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney was a member of the Cuba American | 12 | | Legion and Sinnett Chapel United Methodist Church; he was a CB | 13 | | operator and enjoyed spending time with his group of friends; | 14 | | he also enjoyed attending the cattle sales at the Fairview | 15 | | sale barn; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney was preceded in death by his | 17 | | parents; one brother; and four sisters; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Lyle Courtney is survived by his wife of 71 | 19 | | years, Ruth; his daughters, Judy (Mike) Durrette and Connie | 20 | | Shigematsu; his grandchildren, Andrew (Leah) Bugos, Samantha |

Courtney and extend our sincere condolences to his | 7 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 8 | | further | 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the family of Lyle Courtney as an expression of | 11 | | our deepest sympathy. |
