| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert Joseph "Bob" Hogan, who passed | 4 | | away on February 12, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was born to Joseph and Eloise Hill | 6 | | Hogan on January 30, 1934; he attended St. Agnes Elementary | 7 | | School and graduated from Cathedral Boys High School; he | 8 | | served in the U.S. Army for two years and then graduated from | 9 | | the University of Illinois Police Training Institute; he | 10 | | married Carol Lee Spears in Alton on August 27, 1960; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan served the City of Springfield for 31 | 12 | | years as a police officer and retired in 1993 as a detective | 13 | | sergeant; he worked security at the Illinois State Fair for 33 | 14 | | years; he was the state treasurer for the Police Benevolent | 15 | | and Protection Association of Illinois and was also president | 16 | | of the Springfield unit; he was appointed to the Illinois Law | 17 | | Enforcement Training and Standards Board, which oversees the | 18 | | training of all police officers in the State; after retiring | 19 | | from the Springfield Police Department, he worked security in | 20 | | the Illinois Senate, where he met former State Senator and | 21 | | U.S. President Barack Obama; and | 22 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan received the William Herndon Award in |

| 1 | | 1979 for the outstanding arrest of the year; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was affectionately know as "Bobby" or | 3 | | "Bobby Joe"; he enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Notre | 4 | | Dame football; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was preceded in death by his parents; | 6 | | his wife, Carol; his daughter, Kelli S. Hogan; his | 7 | | granddaughter, Lily E. Hillyer; and his brother, Joseph "Jody" | 8 | | Hogan; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan is survived by his son, Robert Kevin | 10 | | Hogan; his daughter, Kristi Jo (Eric) Hillyer; his | 11 | | grandchildren, James (Kayla), Jacob, Chloe, and Ava; his | 12 | | sister-in-law, Sue Buoy; his great-grandson, Owen; and his | 13 | | niece, Stacey (Dean) Graven; therefore, be it | 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 16 | | Robert Joseph "Bob" Hogan and extend our sincere condolences | 17 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 18 | | it further | 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to the family of Bob Hogan as an expression of our | 21 | | deepest sympathy. |
