| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Virginia R. Blomquist (nee Olson) of | 4 | | Waukegan, who passed away on December 8, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Virginia Blomquist was born on January 13, 1926, | 6 | | in Moline to Swan and Esther Olson; she graduated from Lutheran | 7 | | Hospital in Moline and served as a U.S. Army Cadet Nurse; she | 8 | | married Rev. Willard C. Blomquist on August 27, 1949, in | 9 | | Cambridge; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Virginia Blomquist worked at hospitals in | 11 | | Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa, and served as a field | 12 | | representative for the American Cancer Society from 1976-91; | 13 | | she was a Chicago Cubs fan, volunteered at her church, and held | 14 | | positions such as children's choir director, president of the | 15 | | Greenwood School PTA, president of Church Women United, and | 16 | | president of Waukegan Woman's Club; she spent many years as a | 17 | | membership chairman of the Lake County Community Concerts | 18 | | Association; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Virginia Blomquist was preceded in death by her | 20 | | parents, Swan and Esther Olson; her 5 brothers; her 5 sisters; | 21 | | and 3 infant children; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Virginia Blomquist is survived by her husband of | 2 | | 63 years, Willard; her 2 daughters, Anne Malecki and Kathryn | 3 | | (James) MacNeil; her grandchildren, Matthew (Julia) | 4 | | Santullano, Sophie Malecki, and Eryn and John MacNeil; her | 5 | | sister, Evelyn Swickard; her 3 great-grandchildren; and many | 6 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Virginia Blomquist, and we extend our sincere condolences to | 10 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Virginia Blomquist as an expression | 14 | | of our deepest sympathy.
