| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Michael "Mike" Schuch of Crystal Lake, | 4 | | who passed away on December 9, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Michael Schuch was born in Grabatz, Romania to | 6 | | Michael and Mary Schuch on December 6, 1928; he and his family | 7 | | became refugees during World War II and emigrated to the United | 8 | | States; he entered the United States Army in 1951 and was sent | 9 | | to Korea, where as a machinist he helped build runways; he | 10 | | served in the 840th Engineer Battalion and earned three medals: | 11 | | the Korean Service Medal, the Bronze Service Star, and the | 12 | | United Nations Service Medal; he married Trudy Huff in Twin | 13 | | Lakes, Wisconsin on August 21, 1954 and they lived in Chicago | 14 | | for two years before moving to Crystal Lake, where they resided | 15 | | for 60 years; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Michael Schuch retired in 1991 from Shakeproof in | 17 | | Elgin after 27 years; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Michael Schuch loved to create and fix things; his | 19 | | biggest projects were building a two-car garage and a deck with | 20 | | a screen house, where he spent much of his time relaxing; for | 21 | | many years, he and his family vacationed in their camper in | 22 | | Wild Rose, Wisconsin; he loved playing horseshoes and bowling; |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Michael Schuch was preceded in death by his | 3 | | parents and his step-father, Peter Scholz; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Michael Schuch is survived by his wife of 62 | 5 | | years, Trudy; his children, Diane (John) Kaczmarczyk, Mick | 6 | | (Brenda), Laure (Rick) Foerster, Ellen Radovich, Joe | 7 | | (Melanie), and Brian (Tracy); 15 grandchildren; eight | 8 | | great-grandchildren; and his sister, Emmi Koch; therefore, be | 9 | | it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Michael "Mike" Schuch, and extend our sincere condolences to | 13 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
