1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Walter A.
4 Kistenfeger Jr. of Clarendon Hills on January 29, 2003 at the
5 age of 50; and
6 WHEREAS, As principal of Clarendon Hills Middle School he
7 was known for his athleticism and love of sports, but it was
8 his coaching on all levels that impressed everyone around
9 him; he didn't coach a particular sport but was a coach to
10 all who knew him, and his advice was always welcomed; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Kistenfeger was born and raised in Ottawa
12 and graduated from Ottawa High School; he attended Illinois
13 Wesleyan University in Bloomington and studied education
14 while quarterbacking the Titans football team for four years;
15 and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Kistenfeger began his teaching career in
17 Tremont, but soon after moved to Bloomington, where he was
18 principal at Bloomington Junior High School for six years;
19 and
20 WHEREAS, In 1980, Mr. Kistenfeger earned his master's
21 degree in educational administration from Illinois State
22 University in Normal; he moved to Downers Grove in 1993 when
23 he joined District 181 as principal of Hinsdale Middle
24 School; he then moved to Clarendon Hills Middle School and
25 became principal when the school opened in 2000; and
26 WHEREAS, Mr. Kistenfeger always put his students first
27 and brought a positive force to the school; and
28 WHEREAS, Mr. Kistenfeger's passing will be deeply felt be
29 his friends and family, especially his wife, Kathy; his two
30 daughters, Courtney and Cami; his son, Colby; his parents,
31 Walter Sr. and Anne; his brothers, Robert, Gene, Dave, Gary,

1 and Tom; and his two sisters, Mary Ksiazkiewicz and Sandy
2 Nagel; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
5 Walter A. Kistenfeger Jr., along with all who knew and loved
6 him, and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family
7 and friends; and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to the family of Walter A. Kistenfeger Jr. with our
10 deepest sympathy.
