| 1 | | HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General | 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to the truly great individuals | 4 | | who have served our country and, in doing so, have made the | 5 | | ultimate sacrifice for our nation; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Marine Lance Cpl. Drew M. Uhles of DuQuoin died | 7 | | from injuries received due to enemy action in Al Anbar | 8 | | Province, Iraq on September 15, 2004 and subsequently was | 9 | | awarded the Purple Heart; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, LCpl. Uhles was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th | 11 | | Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary | 12 | | Force, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine | 13 | | Palms, California; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, LCpl. Uhles received numerous awards during his | 15 | | exemplary service to our nation, including the Combat Action | 16 | | Ribbon, the Rifle Marksman Badge, the Presidential Unit | 17 | | Citation, the Good Conduct Award, the National Defense Service | 18 | | Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and | 19 | | two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons; therefore, be it | 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 21 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |

| 1 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the section of | 2 | | Route 51 that runs through St. Johns as the "LCpl. Drew M. | 3 | | Uhles Memorial Highway"; and be it further | 4 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | 5 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with | 6 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs | 7 | | giving notice of the name "LCpl. Drew M. Uhles Memorial | 8 | | Highway"; and be it further | 9 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the family of LCpl. Uhles, the Mayor of St. Johns, | 11 | | and the Secretary of the Illinois Department of | 12 | | Transportation. |
