| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Samuel J. Stanczak of Gurnee, who passed | 4 | | away on January 14, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak was born on October 7, 1921, in | 6 | | Waukegan; he married Catherine Kennedy on July 19, 1947, in | 7 | | Waukegan; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak retired from Johnson Motors after | 9 | | 30 years; he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, | 10 | | repairing planes during WWII; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak played the accordion in a band | 12 | | called "The Drifters"; he was a charter member of St. Paul the | 13 | | Apostle Church in Gurnee where he was a eucharistic minister, | 14 | | usher, and Minister of Care; he helped organize the K.C. | 15 | | Wheelers at the VA hospital and was in charge of helping | 16 | | patients attend mass at Libertyville Manor; he was a Grand | 17 | | Knight of K. of C. Waukegan Council #731 and past Faithful | 18 | | Navigator, 4th degree #0197, member of VFW Post #1293, Gurnee | 19 | | American Legion Post #991, Polish American Legion #5, and | 20 | | Waukegan Moose Lodge #706; he would volunteer to deliver | 21 | | Christmas baskets to the poor; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak was preceded in death by his wife; | 2 | | his brothers, Edward and Lawrence Stanczak; and his sisters, | 3 | | Marcella Schmidt, Gerri Turkowski, and Pat Habjan; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Samuel Stanczak is survived by his daughter, Terri | 5 | | Hemmings; his son, Michael (Janet) Stanczak; his | 6 | | grandchildren, Michael and Thomas Stanczak; and his brothers, | 7 | | Leo (Winnie) Stanczak, John Stanczak, and Jim (Mary Kay) | 8 | | Stanczak; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Samuel Stanczak, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
