1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Glenn E. Yard
4 of Springfield on Tuesday, February 25, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Yard was born on December 12, 1907 in
6 Zenobia to George Joseph and Effie Mae George Yard; he
7 married Edna Gertrude Painter in 1929; she preceded him in
8 death in 1996; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Yard farmed in Zenobia and Elkhart and
10 worked for the State of Illinois; he was a meat inspector for
11 the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was superintendent of
12 weights and measurements for the State for several years; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Yard was a former member of Saints Peter and
14 Paul Church; he served on the first board of directors of
15 Elkhart State Bank and was on the Illinois Advisory Board for
16 the Department of Conservation; he was involved in the
17 Republican Party and served on the Springfield Mass Transit
18 Board before his retirement; and
19 WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Yard has been felt by many,
20 especially his son, George Joseph (wife, Carole Joyce) Yard;
21 his six grandchildren; his 14 great-grandchildren; his two
22 great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Milburg; his
23 brother, Chancey Yard; and his several nieces, nephews, and
24 cousins; he was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Mae
25 Yard, and his son, William Yard; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
28 of Mr. Glenn E. Yard and extend to his family, friends, and
29 all who loved him, our deepest sympathy; and be it further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
31 presented to the family of Glenn Yard as an expression of our
