| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Raymond M. Fitzgerald, who passed away on | 4 |
| January 21, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Raymond Fitzgerald was born in Evergreen Park and | 6 |
| raised on the South Side of Chicago; he was a graduate of | 7 |
| Brother Rice High School in Chicago; he received a bachelor's | 8 |
| degree in economics and political science from Northern | 9 |
| Illinois University; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Raymond Fitzgerald had a long and distinguished | 11 |
| career in public service; in 1994, he served as a legislative | 12 |
| aide to then-Illinois Governor Jim Edgar, a position he held | 13 |
| for five years; he later worked for a year as a member of the | 14 |
| staff on the House Science and Technology Committee; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, From 2000 to 2005, Raymond Fitzgerald served as | 16 |
| the legislative director to U.S. Representative John Shimkus, | 17 |
| where he gained a reputation for his honesty and | 18 |
| straightforward nature; and
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, In 2001, Raymond Fitzgerald married his wife, | 20 |
| Kristin; he moved with his family to Naperville in 2005 after | 21 |
| accepting a lobbying position at Navistar Inc.; and

| WHEREAS, Raymond Fitzgerald is survived by his wife; his | 2 |
| daughters, Nora, Maggie, and Lucy; his mother, Kaye; and his | 3 |
| sisters, Colleen Zientek, Mary O'Donnell, Debbie Noll, Linda | 4 |
| Trinley, and Maureen Harkala; therefore, be it
| 5 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 6 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 7 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Raymond M. Fitzgerald; | 8 |
| and be it further
| 9 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 |
| presented to the family of Raymond Fitzgerald as an expression | 11 |
| of our sympathy.
