| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Rachel E. Shepherdson of Peoria, who | 4 | | passed away on January 25, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rachel Shepherdson was born in Augusta to Ernest | 6 | | Paul and Maza Marie (Dennis) West on January 20, 1925; she | 7 | | earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from | 8 | | Illinois State University; she married C. Edwin Shepherdson in | 9 | | Normal on August 24, 1946; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Rachel Shepherdson started her teaching career in | 11 | | 1946 at Lanark High School; she was a teacher at Dunlap High | 12 | | School from 1947 to 1957; in 1958, she joined the first staff | 13 | | of the new Richwoods Community High School and held business | 14 | | education, counseling, and administrative posts until 1969; | 15 | | from 1969 until her retirement in 1986, she was the Assistant | 16 | | Principal; following her retirement, she taught computer | 17 | | education at ICC and at SeniorNet; she was also a freelance | 18 | | editor for the Peoria Journal Star; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Rachel Shepherdson was an active member of her | 20 | | church; she created computer-generated greeting cards with | 21 | | original poetry and enjoyed playing bridge; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rachel Shepherdson was preceded in death by her | 2 | | husband, Edwin; her parents; and her sisters, Lois Silzer, and | 3 | | Carol Blake; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Rachel Shepherdson is survived by her daughter, | 5 | | Nancy Shepherdson (Larry Garascia); seven nieces and nephews; | 6 | | and several grandnieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Rachel E. Shepherdson, and extend our sincere condolences to | 10 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Rachel Shepherdson as an expression | 14 | | of our deepest sympathy.
