| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Ronald "Ron" Edward Dixon of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on February 13, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ron Dixon was born in Moline to Edward Nelson and | 6 | | Dorothy Mae Metzger Dixon on April 22, 1938; he graduated from | 7 | | United Township High School in 1956 and attended the University | 8 | | of Illinois, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa; he | 9 | | graduated from Augustana College in 1962, where he was a member | 10 | | of Beta Omega Sigma; he married Joanne Windey Perkins in Rock | 11 | | Island on October 2, 1965; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Ron Dixon worked for International Harvester at | 13 | | the East Moline Plant in 1959; he returned to college in 1960; | 14 | | after graduating from college and serving in the U.S. Army from | 15 | | 1962 to 1964, he returned to the East Moline plant in August | 16 | | 1964; he entered the management training program in August 1965 | 17 | | and held supervisor positions in welding, assembly, shearline, | 18 | | combine repair, receiving inspection, and Department 36; he | 19 | | retired from the East Moline Plant in November 1992; he | 20 | | returned to work in April 1993 and retired for good in March | 21 | | 2008; and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, Ron Dixon was a past member of the American |

| 1 | | Legion, the Friends Circle Club, and the East End Club; he was | 2 | | most recently a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter | 3 | | 299, the Moline Vikings, and the Swithzoid Club; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Ron Dixon enjoyed spending time with his family | 5 | | and friends, playing golf, fall fishing trips, putting in a | 6 | | vegetable garden, having an adult beverage with friends at the | 7 | | north end of Hafners, going to Marco Island in the winter, | 8 | | going to Door County, Wisconsin in the fall, Chicago during the | 9 | | holidays, sundowns, his four dogs, Oscar, Hap, Lucky, and | 10 | | Susie, and cruises; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ron Dixon was preceded in death by his parents; | 12 | | his wife, Joanne; and his son, Patrick; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ron Dixon is survived by his children, Carrie | 14 | | O'Neill, Sherrie Brown (Gary Lenz), and John (Dawn) Dixon; his | 15 | | grandchildren, Rachel (Justin) Peterson, Adam (Cashlin) Boyle, | 16 | | Jennifer Brown, and Zachary Brown; eight great-grandchildren; | 17 | | and his sister, Joan Lehmann; therefore, be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 20 | | Ronald "Ron" Edward Dixon and extend our sincere condolences to | 21 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 22 | | further
