| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Shannon "Shawn" Jermaine Smith of | 4 | | Chicago, who passed away on February 16, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Shannon Smith was born on July 15, 1975, to Karen | 6 | | Smith and Napoleon Harris Jr.; he attended Francis De Paul | 7 | | grammar school and Harvard Elementary, where he graduated in | 8 | | 1989; he attended Calumet High School, eventually attaining his | 9 | | diploma in 2004; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Shannon Smith met his wife, Timika, in 1999 and | 11 | | they were married on October 22, 2004; they had 2 children, | 12 | | Ceyanne and Karen; they were later joined by his daughter, | 13 | | Jada; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Shannon Smith worked as a forklift driver at | 15 | | Duraco Productions; he worked as a sales associate at Murray's | 16 | | Auto Parts and then at Auto Zone; he worked his way up at Auto | 17 | | Zone to parts sales manager; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Shannon Smith was known as a skilled mechanic and | 19 | | well known as the person to go to for car repairs; he was | 20 | | giving and would open his home to anyone in need; he joined | 21 | | Community C.O.G.I.C. in 2006 under the leadership of his |
