| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Rita Camacho of Elgin, who passed away on | 4 | | December 11, 2016 at the age of 98; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rita Camacho was born in Mexico on December 15, | 6 | | 1917 to Rosalio and Pascuala (Avina) Pompa; she was a member of | 7 | | one of the first six Mexican families to arrive in Elgin; after | 8 | | first going to Denver, Colorado in 1924, she came to Elgin in | 9 | | December of 1926, accompanied by her widowed mother, two | 10 | | brothers, Jesus and Rosendo, and a sister, Jessie; she married | 11 | | Joaquin "Jack" Camacho; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rita Camacho and her family owned the first | 13 | | Mexican restaurant and first Mexican grocery store in Elgin; | 14 | | she was active in her community, volunteering at many places | 15 | | including Presence Saint Joseph Hospital and the Community | 16 | | Crisis Center; she would always lend a helping hand to anyone | 17 | | who needed it; she was recognized for her contributions to the | 18 | | Hispanic community of Elgin by Club Guadalupano, a civic group | 19 | | associated with St. Joseph parish; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Rita Camacho was preceded in death by her parents; | 21 | | her husband, Joaquin "Jack" Camacho; her brothers, Fortunato, | 22 | | Jesus, and Rosendo Pompa; and her sisters, Anastacia Flores and |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Rita Camacho is survived by her daughters, Mary | 3 | | Camacho and Dolores (Salvador) Camacho; her two sons, Rev. | 4 | | Robert Camacho and Michael (Cynthia) Camacho; her | 5 | | grandchildren, Salvador (Georgianna) Camacho, Mark A. (Pamela) | 6 | | Camacho, Maria T. (Andrew) Harrison, Christina (Jennifer) | 7 | | Robbins, Vincent (Theresa) Camacho, and Victoria Marshall; her | 8 | | great-grandchildren, Michael, Rachael, Alicia, Steven, Lauren, | 9 | | David Jack, Jared, Adam, Maliyah, Evette, and Lila; therefore, | 10 | | be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | 13 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Rita Camacho, and | 14 | | extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all | 15 | | who knew and loved her; and be it further
