| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of United States Army Sergeant James Dorsey | 4 |
| of Beardstown, who passed away on February 8, 2009 while | 5 |
| serving in Iraq; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. James Dorsey was born on August 18, 1985 in | 7 |
| Beardstown; he was the son of James Lee and Cheryl Lea Savage | 8 |
| Dorsey; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. James Dorsey graduated from Beardstown High | 10 |
| School with the class of 2003; and | 11 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. James Dorsey actively served in the U.S. Army | 12 |
| since April of 2004; he was currently stationed in Iraq, where | 13 |
| he was awarded the Purple Heart; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. James Dorsey enjoyed listening to music, | 15 |
| playing the guitar, and fishing; and
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Sgt. James Dorsey is survived by his parents, | 17 |
| James and Cheryl; his paternal grandparents, James P. Dorsey | 18 |
| and Dolly Dorsey; his maternal great-grandmother, Grace Vance; | 19 |
| and his several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and

| WHEREAS, Sgt. James Dorsey's patriotism and courage will be | 2 |
| remembered fondly by his loving family, his fellow soldiers, | 3 |
| and the citizens of our grateful nation; therefore, be it
| 4 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 5 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 6 |
| his family and friends, the death of United States Army | 7 |
| Sergeant James Dorsey; and be it further
| 8 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant James Dorsey | 9 |
| and his willingness to serve our country, which led to him | 10 |
| making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further | 11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 |
| presented to the family of Sergeant James Dorsey as an | 13 |
| expression of our sympathy.
