| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Denene V. "Mazoo" Wilmeth of Springfield, | 4 | | who passed away on March 29, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born February 25, 1939 in Springfield, the | 6 | | daughter of Dennis and Marvene (Thompson) Barrick; she married | 7 | | James Stevenson Wilmeth on January 25, 1957 in Peoria; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, For 29 years, beginning in 1981, she worked for | 9 | | the Decatur Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, serving the | 10 | | last 15 years as Executive Director; she was a member of | 11 | | Illinois State Board of Education, a former member of the | 12 | | Decatur District #61 School Board, and a member of the First | 13 | | Presbyterian Church in Decatur; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, During her time with the Decatur Area Convention | 15 | | and Visitors Bureau she promoted the Farm Progress Show and the | 16 | | 2008 Illinois Republican Convention; she was considered a | 17 | | cheerleader for the City of Decatur, working to make the city a | 18 | | destination for visitors and tourists; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Denene Wilmeth is survived by her children, Tami |

| 1 | | Oppedahl and her husband Tony, James Wilmeth and his wife | 2 | | Vickie, and Mari Handy and her husband Kevin; her | 3 | | grandchildren, A.J. Musser and Sarah Musser and Peyton and | 4 | | Lydia Handy; her sister, Julie Baliva and her husband Dom; and | 5 | | her nephews, Nathan Baliva and Zachary Baliva; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 | | her family and friends, the passing of Denene Wilmeth; and be | 9 | | it further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Denene Wilmeth as a symbol of our | 12 | | sincere sympathy.
